Howard Kirk - *Adopted by Guayaki Yerba Mati*From Santa Cruz to Baja, we would camp out on the beach and surf. My mom was an artist, but I never really tried to paint until the Spring of 2001. A friend invited me to an art store to buy some supplies and at the store I decided I would try to paint. Since surfing has been such a big part of my life it seemed natural for me to paint waves, so I did. I was encouraged by my friends to paint more and so I began painting different waves and have tried to capture the beauty and power of the ocean as it collides with the shore.
Kira Sheppard *Adopted by Lake Forest Limousine*What competitive surfer wears cowboy boots? I do. Some people might not get it, but I grew up among Southern hippies and I will never lose that part of me. My upbringing taught me to be proud of who I am, even when it isn’t convenient. I always try to stay grounded and remember where I came from—and I respect other people who do the same. It’s okay to evolve, but you should never turn your back on your roots.

My name is Chase Stavron, 19 years old and live in san
Clemente, California. I've grown up at the beach all my life, and have been
competing in contests since I was four. The beginning years of my life, I
Surfed Sano everyday and always focused on winning the San Onofre surf
contest, that rolled around once a year. I soon pulled that off and moved on to NSSA where I competed every weekend, winning trophies that fill up my
whole room. Now I've made it to the Pro contests, pushing me up against
riders I once looked up to when I was a kid. I like to compete, but I also love traveling and surfing all the many different waves this world has presented to us.
Corina Barnick - Available - SurferSince she can remember, Cori has always had a desire to be in the water. It was no surprise to her parents when she announced to them at the age of fifteen that she wanted follow in her older brother's footsteps and try surfing. Growing up in an inland town, where surfing is rarely a topic of discussion, seemed to pose no problem for the regular-footer. The long drive to the beach only made her more committed to paddle out, even if the waves were far below ideal. With the love and support of her family behind her, and the friendship and guidance from more experienced surfers in the area, Cori's surfing only improved. She soon began competing, participating in the Western Surfing Association's 2006-2007 season and placing in each contest she entered. She also competes occasionally in the California Longboard Coalition competitions, in contests like the Malibu Classic, and Santa Cruz "Logjam", in which she had a Semi-final finish. Above all, Cori enjoys competing in local contests, where she can compete against the women she surfs with on a daily basis and can have more fun with it. She recently took 3rd place in the second annual 'Toes Over The Nose' competition at Pismo Pier, and 1st place in the all womens' Cayucos Pier Classic. Although she enjoys challenging herself in competition, there is nothing she enjoys more than paddling out for a mellow surf session with her closest friends at a local spot. After living her entire life in San Luis Obispo County, Cori decided to make the move to Santa Barbara, where she now resides, in hopes of finding good surf at the long right point breaks of the region. Her next hope is to travel to different locations around the globe to expand her surfing repertoire and also to meet new people who share her love for the ocean.
